Online reviews, especially on tripadvisor.com can be - and have been in our case - the work of disgruntled ex employees and local competitors. Tripadvisor has no controls in place, and anyone can place a review with total anonymity.
Take a look at www.laterooms.com and www.booking.com for genuine reviews by actual visitors to the hotel. The only way to post on these sites is to actually book through them. The reviews are not all great, and we work hard to improve all the time and fix the problems guests sometimes have.
Good news! We have just completed works installing two new boilers. No more spluttering of pipes!
